18 years ago, on 2nd of September, my mother gave birth to a baby girl. 18 years passed by, and yesterday, on 2nd sept 06, she had a biggest surprise ever on her birthday.

Yesterday morning, I woke up feeling extraordinarily normal. It was my birthday… nothing special. Then when I went downstairs to get a banana for breakfast, my mother asked me where I wanted to go for lunch. Then she suggested going to KLCC, and I thought, why not? Let’s try the Thai food. Off we go, with my dad driving and my family packed behind. I couldn’t really remember the name of the restaurant, I think it has a “Palace” in it. When we went in, I knew it would cost a big hole in my dad’s wallet as only a few customers were there eating and it was lunch hour in KLCC.

We ordered an appetizer, and 4 main course. The appetizer was really special. It is sort of a leaf (fresh and uncooked), and you are supposed to put on some sauce, peanut, ginger, onion, chili, lemon (slices of lemon with its skin), and some other stuff I couldn’t identify. Then came the main dishes, most of which, is really spicy. My dad, thought he was real good at eating chili, ate a whole mouthful of green chili padi and couldn’t talk for fifteen minutes. My brother, accidentally ate some chili padi, kept repeating how hot it is and how the taste went up to his ears and all… Then the desserts. It was ok but I don’t really fancy it as it was made up of coconut. All in all, the meal was great. (And hot.)

After that we went and looked around, (my mum ended up buying a thousand ringgit worth of pillow case, bed sheet, pillows…with my brother grumbling beside her. Thanks to the salesman.) and finally got home at around 4. At about 5, Kit Loong called and then we went out to “jog”.

Of course we didn’t manage to jog as it was still drizzling. So we went up to “little genting” instead. I was sitting in the car when he went to the car booth and took out a small cake. Then we went up to the cliff. He put on a candle and sang a birthday song to me. I was really happy as it was the most –a word here- thing he did. Even more surprisingly, when we returned to the car, he took out a –some text missing- and gave it to me. I was really touched.

On our way back, his cell phone rang. He said it’s his mother calling and asking him to go home for awhile to take something. I waited in the car and when he got back, he handed me a present. – text missing again-. It was really very nice, thank you.

Then when we go home, I told him I would try to make it quick (I thought my aunt would be coming over and we would be celebrating with them) and then we could go out at around 9. When we passed by my house to stop under the trees, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Who are those people standing on my garden? And what is Juen Terng doing at my house?! I was caught off my guard and I sat in the car, refusing to come down until Kitloong practically dragged me out. When I finally went into the house, I saw a lot of familiar faces greeting me with a birthday song. With my mind totally blank, I uttered a thank you and went up to bathe quickly.

It was when I went down that I finally registered into my mind who was at my surprise party. The old 5sc1 gang! As SKY explained the details of their plan to me, I was busy receiving presents from them. It was only then that I realize my brother, my mum, Kitloong and of course, SKY was the mastermind behind this plan. Thank you very very much.

Of course, I would also like to thank all of those who make their time and effort to come to my surprise birthday party. To list here: Sky, Kit Loong, Pei Yei, Zheng Ling, Ester, Jian Xuan, Dominic, Yet Zi, Kam Hei, Shim Hwa, Siew Yen, Carrie, Johan, Wei-I, Wei-Li, Sze Ying, Pei Pei, Elwin, Seng Loong, Shiuh Feng, Meng Yue, Wai Fai, Wei Zhong, Aih Sheng, Julian, Yuan Ruh, Juen Terng, Chun Wah, and a new guy I couldn’t remember his name.

I hope I didn’t miss out anyone. Thank you for coming. Hope u all had a nice time there. I knew I had.
***Would Add pictures soon.

Perfect lover

Hmm.... A perfect guy would be...
-caring but not demanding
-gentle but not too soft or clingy
-always let's you to have a say but knows when he should make a decision
-able to make you smile even when you are down
-someone who waits for you instead of you always waiting for him (in long-term relationship)
-calls you back even if you hang up on him
-detailed and knows what you wants
-knows what he wants in life and work hard for it
-someone that can make you act exactly like yourself and not pretend to be someone you are not!
-and of course, someones who treats you the same and showers you will love and affection even if you have been together for 100 years.

*to add to the perfection, he could also be
-friendly to everyone (not just you!)
-good-looking
-humble
-rich!! ($$$$$ adds the fun)

To be fair, this could be applied to girls as well...*grins

Of Graphs And Madness

Posted in
I am so pissed off by my economics lecturer that I couldn’t help but blog about it here. Yesterday, she taught us some graphs, as usual, it’s actually a quite simple graph (revenue and cost curves for price discrimination), but she manage to make it sound extra complicated that no-one really gets what she meant, again, as usual.

Well, what’s worse is, after she let us go early to prepare for the Tony Fernandes’s talk, some of my friends circle around her and ask her a few questions about the graph. So, out of curiosity, I joined them. I began to understand what they are arguing with her, so I joined in and tried to tell her that, -if I am not mistaken because my knowledge about the graph is somewhat limited to what she just taught earlier-, the point on her graph is wrong.

AS USUAL, she looked at us like we are EXTRA dumb and explain what we already understand to us. So we started EXPLAINing back to her why we think her point is wrong. It ended up in some kind of “duck talking to chicken” discussion, and the discussion ended by us surrendering in frustration with a,“ yes miss, we understand.” (As usual too, it happens to me all the time when I am talking to her. Am I really that bad in economics? )

Okay, that wasn’t all. Today, I was late to her class because I was in the library with a few of my friends. Once I got in, Shin Yi waved her hands frantically and mouthed out something I couldn’t understand.

When I approached her, she said,
“ Miss xxx says, whoever haven’t done their presentation, would be given a whole NEW TOPIC to present.”
When Annjoe asked, “Why?”
She answered simply,

“They didn’t volunteer.”

WHAT?!!! You mad cow! I was dying to go out and get over it quickly. You are the one who came in, teach, prepare to leave, and said, “opps, sorry I forgot about the presentation, remind me tomoro.”

I was so angry I didn’t want to talk to her anymore.

Does anybody know who on earth is Tony Fernandes? I bet most of you would have heard about him. In case you still have no idea about him, he's the one providing us cheap or even FREE airlines across Malaysia, and yes, he's the CEO (owner) of AIR ASIA. The big thing today is, he came to our college! (Yeah! We skipped acounting and economics class because of his talk!)
It was supposed to be held in Lecture Theater 1. However, the lecture hall was so packed (students were actually sitting on the floor and teachers were standing at the back) that lecture hall 2 was used to fill in all other students, (i was one of them). We, late comers, were to go through the whole talk watching a video cam projected on a big screen. Even the second hall was quickly filled up, leaving all other students no chance but to go back to class. *wink. No wonder Mr Teoh, our Moral Education lecturer was so pissed off, his class, held at the same old LT 2, was never as packed!

Well, to tell you the truth, i didn't expect him(Tony F.) to be the 'him' we saw today. It's totally unexpected. I mean, he's the CEO of the most popular air line in Malaysia! Everyone would think that, as a CEO of a company, he would be a serious man, calculating profits and strategy to kick off new competitors all the while. Maybe not for you, but i most certainly did. Hmm, his appearance is quite normal, a bit short and a bit round in the middle, but he's humourous. He jokes a lot (ya, some jokes are about MAS airlines), and he's really someone who has a lot of ideas. (No wonder he could take-over AIR ASIA at RM1!) What's truly amazing is, he's actually a full-time musician before that!

He talked about his life before going into air asia, how he bought over air asia at just one ringgit, (he actually got two partners, one of them is Roslan Aziz, the judge in Malaysian Idol), his story about meeting Tun Mahathir to get the air-line lisence, and the way he manage his company right now. He also taught us, "young entrepreneurs"-the way he addressed us, lessons on what to do and what not to do to maintain a business. He put it in a way that, we would feel, hey, managing an air-line is not that difficult after all!

Aha, that's him!

*His the youndest CEO in Malaysia if i am not mistaken.

He really is witty man. He came to gave us a talk, and everyone will be humming,"air asia, air asia" for a few days, so he automatically became his company's live advertisement. Clever, isn't he?

I cut my finger!
That day my mum asked me to cut fruits, so i took out the thing u use to peel off the skin of the fruits (the thing with two blades), and started peeling off the skin. After two "expert" movements of cutting, i peel off my own skin! The blade went right into my finger and peel out the flesh! making it look like the, you know, part which moves when fish breathes.

Instantly it started to bleed and i quickly washed the wound and pressed on it hard. I had to sit down because i feltaint. After dressing up the wound, i had to hold my hand up high so that it wouldnt bleed that much. Suddenly, i became aware of how tired the statue of liberty feels holding her hands up high all day long. -.-"

*i had to type using one hand. sob sob

Shock...

That day, my friend told me that one of her friend just met a car accident. Then she asked me, how would you feel when one of your good friends suddenly die? I was taken aback when she asked that, so i said, never thought of it before, shock gua.....
Then she told me, he passed away....

OMG
Up until today, i only got to know that, the guy she referred to was her ex. And today "chu bin". Now i got really shock. That would explain why she's acting a bit weird today.

I seriously don't know how i would feel. Anyway, i realised that driving is indeed very "life-threatening", and, life's full of unexpected twist. So.... apprieciate what you have. haha.

If i were to skip LAN on wednesday, i would be able to go home at 12noon!!! Haha. Since i still got a clean record (i havent ponteng Moral Studies yet, meaning i can skip about 3 times), i've decided to skip Moral lessons today, which is a double period.

I ended up driving alone to school today, cause i need my car to get home earlier! In the morning when my eyes are not fully open and half of my brain malfunctioning, i drove to school. Maybe because i drove a bit earlier or that everyone decided not to be on the road at that time in the morning, there are 0.01% fewer cars on the road today. I didn't know what i was doing, i just thought, i wanna get to school early, so i stepped on the accelerator, hard.

110, 120, 130......160! I didnt's notice that i was going that fast, (ok, for some of you, mayb that is normal speed, but for me, a lousy and clumsy driver, that's fast), i just knew that all the cars in front of me kept going into the middle lane to let me pass. Then i realise that my car were starting to shake and the steering were moving left and right in my hand that i believe if i let go the the steering, the car would spin. Then when my car slowed down a little, i sneaked a look at my speedometer. 160km/h! What did i think i was doing?

Then all of a sudden, i reached the second toll already. I begin fumbling for my purse which fell to the floor next to me to get the Touch n Go card, so I didn’t realise that my car was nearing the toll a bit too fast. I braked just in time but found out that I was too far from the machine. Feeling stupid, I opened my car door and tried to reach it. Still nowhere near. In the end I had to take off my seat belt to touch the card with the machine, that’s when my purse fell out of my lap. WhaT?!! Getting out of my car and reaching for my purse on the floor which was UNDER my car was so embarrassing that I couldn’t get myself to look at the LONG line of cars behind me. So much for trying to reach college early.

Well, I still managed to reach college 15 minutes earlier than usual. The next stupid thing that I do was when I pay for the parking spot. Guess I was still shock or embarrassed by the incident on the road, I honestly didn’t know what I was doing. Remember I told u that the main reason I drove to school alone today was that I could go home earlier? I seemed to forget all about it at that time and I kept putting my coins into the meter until I suddenly realized that I put in enough coins to last till 5pm!

I got nagged by Kit Loong back here. “150?! Very funny ar?! You could’ve died!”

I didn’t know how my brother got to know about that but, when he heard about that., he said, “you know what will happen when you crash at the speed of 160? The back of your car would smashed against the front part of your car, making it look like a thin piece of pan-cake with you sandwiched in between."

-.-"

I duno what I am doing, this two weeks, I’ve been spending money as if it’s plain water! If I were to change all the money spent into RM1 notes, I would be taking out one note from my pocket every waking minute! Anyway, to curb this devastating problem, I started taking note of what I spend on. Haha.

Oh ya, we got our Moral education lecturer changed. It’s back to Mr teoh! Yeah! Not that I really like the guy but, if compared to the lecturer we had earlier on, well, at least he acknowledge the fact that his teaching is really extremely boring so he let us sleep in class! Wink*

Talking about Moral, we just finish doing our survey on irritating Malaysian mannerism, and we’re now working on interpreting the data and doing ‘primary research’- this is a word learnt from Business Studies. “ haha, at least I didn’t waste my time going for business class!”

Oh, Italy won the World Cup. I don’t think I should post this here as everyone on earth would have known this already. Anyway, too bad Germany couldn’t get into the finals. I secretly hoped that the finals would be Germany vs England. Haha.Supporting all the leng zhai’s. That’s me! Oh, there’re rumours going on that there would be a rematch for the final, and that they are considering to withdraw the award given to Zizou. Personally I think that withdrawing the award is still possible, but a rematch?!! No way.

It’s a long time since I watch F1. Michael S. won today, with Alonso 2nd and Massa third. This closes the gap between Alonso and Michael on the championship title. Mathematically, it is possible for Michael to overtake Alonso, however, with, uh, how many match more? Talk about being optimistic.

So, with world cup season over, passion for F1 faded, and everyone busy studying in different colleges/schools, there’s nothing left to distract my mind of my own boring textbooks…..

*Sorry about the photos that I was supposed to post up here, you won’t believe, but when I were about to load it, my computer got hare wire and I got it reformatted a-g-a-i-n….. duh.

Bye Business

Posted in
I just dropped my business studies. Because of this, suddenly i find myself having a lot of free period between classes. I went to my friends apartment and watched a movie series of Detective Conan... Haha, talk about wasting time.
Uh, yesterday when i got home, i felt insecure about dropping business so i went n check the entry requirements of a few universities again, and, OMG, they require a minimum of 4 subjects to enter some of the good uni. This morning, i quickly rush to the Taylor's Placement Center n CAL office and talk with the counselors there, and guess what, phew, Thinkings Skills is counted as 1 subject so i m safe! Sorry Christine, i scared u... haha.
So many Crabbies in our class! After a lot of planning n delaying, our class went to Sunway and celebrated 4 of our friends' birthday-- Shin yi, Mae ann, Chok, and Annjoe. When we reach there, we couldnt find a parking, everywhere is full! So, in the end i had to turn round and round and race for a parkin spot. -.-"
Even in Sunway, a lot of the restaurants are too small to fit in all 18 of us. In the end we went to Chicken Buffet. Hmm, the place is quite okay, because u get to eat chickens cooked in different style, grilled, friends, spicy... And you get to eat salads and other stuffs. The price is quite okay too, its Rm14.4 each. I didnt eat much though, because we were too busy taking photos. Haha. Should go there another time.
I guess it's because different people from different places have got varying style of doing things. Some one my friends, they make fun of others and they are like, "give me the camera," - then they grab it from the owners hands. I duno, i sensed some uneasiness today among a few of them. After analysing a few of their behavior, i realised that, people from KL will treat others with more respect (or u can call that- distance) than those from outskirt... as they tend to have a closer relationship than the KLrians, (which might be the cause of them being more straight-forward to others). Honestly, i got a bit annoyed too, with the way they reacted, kinda lame. But,.... no other comments.
I duno if everyone had a great day today, hope no ill-feelings arises from this event. ANyway, Happie Birthdays, all the June-July Crabbies...

After finishing the Frog Prince series, i've heard that the same actors are in the series, "The magicians of Love", which is aired at 7pm, mon-fri, 8tv. As i have nothing more exciting to do, i decided to give it a try.
Actually, i forgot all about watching the series yesterday, which was the first episode. But i thought, nevermind, i would be watching it today. So, at 7pm, i switched on the tv, only to discover that there's something wrong with the TV as there were no sound. So, i checked the remote control, to see whether the MUTE button was accidently pressed or not. I tried every button that i thought would affect the sound system, and tried all 3 remote control. Still no sound. Then i went under the TV to see if there were any connection error. To be honest, i don't really know if the wires were connected correctly or not, since it's a new TV and i am not that familiar with the connections, so, for the time being, i would assume that they were connected correstly.
Then i went upstairs to see if i could watch the show with the other smaller TV instead. However, that TV is not connected through ASTRO so eventhough i could hear the sound from the TV, i could not see the image. All i see were blurred colours and lines.
Frustrated, i went back to the useless plasma TV and watch the episode reading the Subtitle while watching the actors and actresses waving here and there soundlessly. Finally, the episode for the day ended and when i wanted to switch off the TV, my brother asked, "jie, you check the TV and see, i think there's something wrong with the TV as all three channel, ("TV"- straight from satelite, "AV"- through Astro and, "SURS"- connect to Video player) connect to the TV and none connect to Video player.
So, i pressed the button and check. When i press AV, boom! The sound roared into my ears. I was so angry at myself as i have been stupid enough to watch the soundless TV for one whole hour when there's actually nothing wrong with the TV at all!

5sc1 Gathering

Posted in
It's a long time since 5sc1 2005 have had a big gathering so i've decided to ask everyone to come around and meet up....

At about 4pm on that day, Kit loong and I went to the place to book for a table. As there would be a football match at that time, and they were going to celebrate Zheng Ling's birthday, we decided to book the outdoor table facing the TV screen, instead of the air-con room the waiter suggested.

Actually I just sms someone from each school telling them about this gathering and hope for the best. I really thought that probably there would be at most 7 or 8 of us coming. But when i reach the place, already 20 members were standing there! Such a surprise!

Everyone was happy and busy chatting with 'long lost' friends and taking photo's with each other.

After exam--- before commencement of semester

Hmm.... 've just finish reading the Da VinCe Code, which, if i remember correctly, i started reading since last year. (just too busy, hehe). Anyway, i've finally finished reading, and, i would have to say that Dan Brown is really awesome! I bet he spent a lot of his time doing research on Christianity and paganism. Although there might be some fact which is wrong, but honestly, he's really a good writer.

My grandma just came back from her hometown in Segamat, and she brought back a TV series, Wh3n @ PrnCe b3came @ Fr0g. As i have nothing else to do, i've spent my last two days watching the tv series with her. Well, it's a love story between a 'kampung' girl and a 'bandar' boy. It's so full of drama which makes me wonder if there's anything like dat in our real world. I wouldnt recommend this series to anyone who's, er, less than romantic , but, if u have a lot of time to kill or need some inspiration for your love life, that's a show u could watch.

*** MR. ELWIN TOO: keep out!!!***
Yeah! Finally it's holidays. No more waking up in the wee hours. No more torturing trips to school. And most importantly, no more EXAMS!!! Well, i didnt do realy well for my exams. Guess it's just an okay paper for me. Anyway, the exam result will be out next week (so fast?! SPM results take 3 months!), and, there's nothing more i can do.

After the exam, Lingxia, Christine, Mae Ann, Sandy, Chok and I went to Sunway and watch Over the Hedge. Err, the movie's all about f-o-o-d. It also portrays how we humans treat the poor animals... I would says it's an Okay movie.

Now that holidays started, i do not really know what to do with all the extra time. And.... i am getting bored. Haha. Any suggestions?

Cham lo... Our uncle, Sze ying's dad, who is fetching us to school everyday has just decided that taxi-driving is insufficient to earn an income for the family. So, out of the blue, he said he would be selling off his taxi and ask us to find our own means of transport to school starting from next month, which is only one week away!!! What?!!! How am i going to college then? I can't drive... =( haha... I cant manage parking... (shh....)
Another thing is... That day when i was at the Segar pasar malam with Kit Loong, i sms-ed my father n asked him to fetch me home... N somehow i got so distracted that i didn't realise he was in the car at the end of the junction waiting for me. So, he saw me with him walking together.... Duh. I was just too careless. So now i just got a lecture from my dad, and he suggested that mayb i should just move to the apartments near Taylor's College so as to solve the transport problem... (underlying line is that: he wants to keep me away from Kit loong)... Argh, he's chasing me away... sob sob... Hehe.... I m thinking about it....

Wow, times flies, doesn't it? It's already five months since i've became a Taylorian. We would be having our AS exam in October. Suddenly, it felt as if i would be sitting for SPM all over again. And now's already end of May. Gosh, did i prepare at all? Honestly, i am still in the commencement of semester mood. Haha.

Hmm, five months here and i somehow still feel a bit alienated. I mean, i have friends alright, but somehow, they are not like friends from Connaught. It doesn't feel like 5sc1. One incident which i don't understand is, that day, a guy from our class said he would spend the whole class on pizza as the Econs teacher was absent. So, when my clique of friends asked where should we have lunch, i just said pizza, and then she said," what? pizza? we would bump into our class friends, no." i was like, huh? why cant we bump into them? but of course i didnt say it out aloud, i jump feel sad cause i dont understand why they like to differentiate themselves from others in our class. Sometimes i envy Kam Hei cause his class is always having group outings and they are somehow so united, and then i remember my previous class in Connaught, then i feel like i am Hum Soon Lee, which in fact i m acting like him now. Sometimes i just feel like turning around and and just mix around in our class, but, it would be bad right? to betray them like that, (which, i wont.) what if all 8 of them suddenly shut me out completely. Duh, guess i just have to go to school, study, and be home. "Socialising" would have to wait.

Just an Update

hey, hmm, i am kinda busy lately, what with all the homework and revision for the up coming semester exam, i couldn't blog that frequent anymore. I suddenly realise that my accounting is way down the drain, i don't even know why i don't understand! All of a sudden 2 weeks seems kinda short for all the revisions needed. So, wish me luck!
