Does anybody know who on earth is Tony Fernandes? I bet most of you would have heard about him. In case you still have no idea about him, he's the one providing us cheap or even FREE airlines across Malaysia, and yes, he's the CEO (owner) of AIR ASIA. The big thing today is, he came to our college! (Yeah! We skipped acounting and economics class because of his talk!)
It was supposed to be held in Lecture Theater 1. However, the lecture hall was so packed (students were actually sitting on the floor and teachers were standing at the back) that lecture hall 2 was used to fill in all other students, (i was one of them). We, late comers, were to go through the whole talk watching a video cam projected on a big screen. Even the second hall was quickly filled up, leaving all other students no chance but to go back to class. *wink. No wonder Mr Teoh, our Moral Education lecturer was so pissed off, his class, held at the same old LT 2, was never as packed!

Well, to tell you the truth, i didn't expect him(Tony F.) to be the 'him' we saw today. It's totally unexpected. I mean, he's the CEO of the most popular air line in Malaysia! Everyone would think that, as a CEO of a company, he would be a serious man, calculating profits and strategy to kick off new competitors all the while. Maybe not for you, but i most certainly did. Hmm, his appearance is quite normal, a bit short and a bit round in the middle, but he's humourous. He jokes a lot (ya, some jokes are about MAS airlines), and he's really someone who has a lot of ideas. (No wonder he could take-over AIR ASIA at RM1!) What's truly amazing is, he's actually a full-time musician before that!

He talked about his life before going into air asia, how he bought over air asia at just one ringgit, (he actually got two partners, one of them is Roslan Aziz, the judge in Malaysian Idol), his story about meeting Tun Mahathir to get the air-line lisence, and the way he manage his company right now. He also taught us, "young entrepreneurs"-the way he addressed us, lessons on what to do and what not to do to maintain a business. He put it in a way that, we would feel, hey, managing an air-line is not that difficult after all!

Aha, that's him!

*His the youndest CEO in Malaysia if i am not mistaken.

He really is witty man. He came to gave us a talk, and everyone will be humming,"air asia, air asia" for a few days, so he automatically became his company's live advertisement. Clever, isn't he?
